The Workman's Club

There's a subtle dichotomy at play here. The Clarence, 'U2's Hotel', is the home of the octagonal (!) cocktail bar and pristine marbled floor.  While the Workman's Club feels like the servants quarters in comparison, it’s that marriage of shabby and chic that perfectly describes Dublin also. They are infamous for putting on live gigs that you'd sell your granny to go to, and it's the hottest and sweatiest dancefloor in town, playing crowdpleaser after crowdpleaser. Yup, the Workman's is sneakers and jeans and loose as a goose. You'll find yourself mouthing words into a friendly stranger's ears over the live music of the indie band du jour, wondering aloud what a nine-sided bar would be called and which member of U2 is called Clarence anyway…
