The Pig & Heifer was set up in 1996 to bring genuine New York delicatessen foods to Dublin with an original New York recipe for pastrami. We were the first in Ireland to serve real “pastrami on rye”.

We have always insisted on using the best handmade sourdough for our sandwiches. Our meats are delivered to us by butchers rather than processors; our vegetables are direct from Smithfield market and are prepared freshly every day.

Nothing, absolute nothing in the Pig & Heifer is packaged for sale later on, we insist on the very best quality at all times regardless of the expense.

As a result our hams, beef, lamb will always be the very best available in Dublin.

Our cheeses are sourced from artisan producers in Ireland, Italy, France and Spain. Consequently we offer truly different tastes and flavours without the need for added flavourings and enhancers.

As we produce most of our own sauces and soups from scratch we can verify the type and quality of our ingredients. As time has passed we have constantly experimented and innovated with new tastes while adding to our original principles.

Today the Pig & Heifer offers a huge range of continental hams, salamis and dairies from Italy, Spain, Portugal and France. We have combined these meats and a variety of cheeses with avocados, peppers, tomatoes as well other ingredients to produce a range of sandwiches with unique flavours and textures.

The Pig & Heifer excludes all the costs associated with marketing and hype in favour of purchasing the very best quality products from home and around Europe. Consequently we can offer surprising value considering the cost and effort that goes into our products.
